Is this intake ruined???

I bought an Weiand Action Plus 8004 intake off ebay and I was wondering if it is junk?
The devider in the plenum was milled out for "Nitrous use" but it has been brought to my attention that if you remove the devider you ruin the manifold. Also with the newer plate system the devider is not in the way anyway. Also it claims for better nitrous distribution with the devider remove but I also heard if your running less that a 150 shot it does not matter. I am running a 50-75-100 so I should be fine there. If need be could I weld a devider back in???

The runners have been "professionally ported" (by a blind man!) Are the runner trashed??? The look to be ported to the ragged edge. I am wondering if a gasket will hold with the amount of material that has been removed. It also looks like they used an epoxy (Black Stuff probably JB Weld) to touch up the port job. It looks like chunck have broken off the epoxy. I am afraid more chunck will come of and get sucked into the motor! Is this a lagitimate concern?

What are your opinions on this intake? Is it ok as is? If not can it be salvaged? Or should I just throw it out? I will probably bitch to the guy that burned me on it!

It looks like you will have a lot of trouble getting the ports to seal, not a lot a material left. I would be very worried if it has JB Weld patches, I doubt that stuff will hold. If it was me, I'd rip the seller a new one .

I think you might want to try to get your money back. I would not use that thing.

Intakes are too cheap, and if is JB, you for sure dont want it going down the hole.

Just get a new one.

I would be more worried about the porting job than the divider. If it was just the divider, I'd say toss it on the motor and see how it works. With the hack job done on the runners, I think it's time to get your money back.

Huh...... That is a GOOD point! I guess I didnt think that through far enough. Well if anyone had some good suggestions I would be willing he hear them. I think Ebay has an area where I can file a complaint agenst the seller which I will probably do if he continues to ignore me but I would like to have a more devious plan B ready incase!

I was saying the same thing to myself when I saw the photos, "Wow! What a hack-job."

This was "professionally ported"? What "profession" were they in, ditch digging? Doesn't Ebay have some recourse, other than the seller's feedback?

The guy email me back saying I was out of luck and the part was sold as is. So I emailed him back bitching some more. I think their may be area within ebay to file a complaint against people who sell junk parts. Their are even trashed threads on this intake that he made no mention about. What a dick! I may have to knock and grind all that black crap off and give it a try with some extra gasket sealer. If it develops a vaccum leak I'll probably just buy a NEW one.

Hook me up! I work on pc's and networks for a living so I could hunt down some nice virusus to send him from hacker sites. Maybe create a dummy account with hotmail (hotlips@hotmail.com) and send him letters so his wife will chop off his nutts! (ah la John Wayne Bobbet) Seems like fair revenge for getting burned on a $55 manifold, right?

Call Ebay.com, you can get this guy's home phone number, alot better then sending e-mails

If it was $55, it might not be worth all the hassle because you have to prove that he said it was in good condition, i'd go with the harrassment.

If he/she is careful, it won't even get through. I had one of our "friendly" members send a virus to me through a mail attachment, and did waste about five minutes exploring the virus to see what it would do (it was a NASTY little worm) but it was under quarrantine the entire time, so there was no effect.

Unless someone is careless or just plain inept, virusses shouldn't be an issue - except for the Window operating system, of course...

I'd say it might be best to put some really ugly feedback in his eBay profile. Nothing abusive or vulgar, just something to really warn others against his habits. That should cost him a lot more than $55 in the long run.
