o ringed

what does it mean exactly to "o ring" a engine? the guy that built my engine told me this was done, but didnt explain what it did. all he siad was that its a good idea to do that if your gonna run NO2.....?????anyone know?

Around the bore, you mill an o-ring indentation, do the same on the head (around the combustion chamber), and by putting a steel ring in that spot, you increase the sealing capability.

so the 2 rings expand from the heat creating a better seal? This is better for N02 becasue no2 makes your engine work harder creating more heat?

It's a prerequisite for copper head gaskets normaly used in super high compression engines.

There's only one ring per cylinder, but both the cylinder head and engine block have to be machined to accept the ring.
