When I am driving down the road and my car gets to about 4K rpm's, it will start sputtering and jerking and won't really gain anymore rpm. What would cause this? I need some ideas, the ignition parts come to mind, but I want other suggestions before I go out and replace all the accel parts on there, they ain' t cheap.

 

Dirty fuel pump or clogged cat maybe.

I think he meant to say dirty fuel filter .

 

hey guys, thanks for the replies. The fuel filter is a definite possibility, I will have to replace it. Anything else to check? The car doesn't have any cats so that isn't it. Any other suggestions as well would definitely be appreciated.

 

maybe the fuelpump is not working properly , maybe when you get up to 4 k rpm its not pumping enough fuel .....First I would change the fuel filter ....Then if that doesn't do it , check your fuel pressure .

Yeah I meant filter. But like said the pump might be something to check too.

 

Mine does this, I am getting a lot of knock retard on the scanner.
Something to look at.
