Firebird/camaro swap?

There is a guy down the road from me that has a bunch of junk cars.

Well I noticed a third generation firebird down there. And went and asked him about it.And he said all he wanted was the rearend out of it.And He was going to haul it to the junkyard.Well We got to talking and I mentioned I liked his 71 chevy truck. And he asked if I knew where any parts where.I told him I had a good bed off of one.So he came up and looked the bed.And Said he would trade me the whole firebird with a good 305 and 700r4 for the bed.

Well I am already building a 355 motor. But I could still use the car for parts.Like the wiring harness, etc, etc.

Will the ground effects off a firebird fit on a camaro? Is that 305 ho the same motor the camaro's had in them?Or is it a pontiac motor?

Thanks for anyhelp.

Are you sure its the L69 305 HO? Or is it the TPI 305? And yes, the "305 HO" is swappable no problem - the 305 is a SBC. I cant answer your question on ground effects though, sorry

I haven't looked at the car much.I know on the hood it says 5.0 ho.

Can the 305 be made it run?Like I said I am building a 355.But I have 2 sets of rebuilt heads.I was going to put a new cam, lifters, timing set and probably an oil pump in the 305.While it was out of the car. That way I know it will last me a while.

But I have a set of heads of a 327 and another set of a 307.I just had both of them rebuilt.

I did a small port job to the 307 heads. And I was wondering if they would work well on the 305?I was also planing on putting headers and an intake on the 305.Just so I can play with the car.

Does this sounds like a good plan?

if you are gonna be building a 355, i dunno if I would mess around with heads and what not. then again, if ya got em... I dont know ANYTHING about 307's other than my dad's delta had one, and he was proud because of it... (that was a LONG time ago...). Headers are a good idea. What year is this thing?

I don't know anything about 307's either. It was in our 69 camaro when we got it.

My car is an 86 camaro. Not sure on the year of the firebird though.I know it has a 305 ho motor with a 700r4 trans the motor and tranny have about 120 thousand miles on them. The car doesn't have a rearend. But I just want the motor and tranny and the wiring harness out of it.So I hope to be getting it by the end of this week.I want to have my car done by july 4th.We are going on a float trip that weekend. And I would like to drive my car down there. That would be nice!
