alright quick ? does the knock sensor wire, go directly from the knock sensor to the EST or does it branch off somewhere else? The reason I m asking is cause my wire is fried or broken somewhere in the middle. oh and cause the knocksensor wire on my 89 L98 is black where it connects, and white at the EST so I'm kinda lost right now.

 

The white knock sensor wire does go directly to the ESC module, no branches or side trips. White wires in the engine bay are often black near the connectors just from being exposed to the oily elements. If you clean off the knock sensor wire, I'm sure it'll be white at the ESC module as well.

 

well I thought that the knock sensor wire went only to the EST and then a wire from the EST went to the ESC, and I thought thought that the knocksensor didn't directly go to the ESC.

Well cause the reason I m asking is cause my buddy was tring to trace the wire and said it was black, now quick question what color is the fan switch wire? Cause I did a motor swap and was wondering if I had gotten these confused and switched, I really don't think so but I might of, but I dout it though cause my fans come on.

 

well I go out there tomorrow and wipe off the wire to see if it is white cause I think he traced it pretty far in the wire loom, but then again, it was night. I let you know.

 

Right. It's a white wire from the knock sensor to the ESC, then a black wire from the ESC to the ECM.

On speed density computers (90-92), the knock sensor feeds directly to the ECM via the white wire.
