Help! Computer problem?
Hey- I think my ECM took a dump on me, but I wanted to get some opinions before I go looking for another one. I have an LG4 with the stock CC quadrajet, and the mixture control solenoid is clicking and not providing the right mixture. If I unplug it, the car runs 10X better, but as soon as I plug it back in, the car stumbles, misses and stalls. When it's plugged in, I get no check engine light and no codes, but obviously something is wrong. I also replaced the solenoid and tried a spare carb, but the problem is still there. The only thing I can think of that would be doing this is the ECM is screwed up. Any replies about this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
By no codes I meant that there are no trouble codes, I still get the code 12. According to the computer, everything's fine is what I was saying. Sorry for the confusion.
nestz28,
Did you follow the adjustment procedure for the TPS and M/C solenoid on the carb? If it runs better with the solenoid disconnected, it's because the M/C isn't responding correctly. This could either be a TPS or O² sensor problem, or the mixture control solenoid adjustment. You could have other issues, like a float problem, but that would be a symptom whether the solenoid was connected or not.
