on my 89 rs 305 tbi, i got a no start problem.

The battery is fully charged, the lights come on and everything, but the car just wont turn over. i'm not even hearing the solinoid click.

So i got under there and just jumpered the starter, the starter winds up....but it dosnt turn the engine over? if the starter goes, so should the engine...

I even got close enough in there to watch the flywheel, no movement, but the starter is just winding away.

The only thing i could think of is the armature in there is broken.

But all this said...why wont it even click on or off if you try to start it from inside the car?

 

i traced it down to the VATS system, i just fiddled with the VATS wiring and it started back up again. But thanks for the overwhelming support.

Now i need to go about disabling the VATS....

 

C'mon, you've gotta give us a little time. If the problem was VATS, make sure teh key pellet is clean and the sensor contats in the lock cylinder are clean. That's half the battle with these systems - connections. There was a Tech Article on cleaning the lock cylinder contacts IIRC.

 

i was just joking, i posted that pretty early in the morning, so i didnt expect to get a whole lot of responces.

yeah, i'm currently disabling the vats system, its not a problem with the key...
