HELP!! A/C Compressor seized...need to re-route belt!

OK 1990 iroc serpentine. A/c compressor just seized...not enough time to replace it......I need to know if I can by-pass it by running off the smog pump, under the tensioner pulley and continue it's normal route. Anyone know if this will work and if so how long a belt? No time to do the delete thing...have to get to work and mother to the airport! Thanks!

does teh pulley ( the inner grooved thing) still rotate freely when the a/c system is off? if so you can just put a new belt on and replace later. Other thatn that, you'll hafta get creative. I thought of doing the same thing but i dont think its possible to route it correctly. Anyone else know?

Try super shuttle, they're pretty reasonable for airport runs.

I think you're stuck. I don't think there is a way to just run a belt over the smog pump and still have it reach the tentioner.

the compressor pulley is the problem...that is what has failed (gawd auwfull noises from under the hood let me tell you!) I took a piece of string and routed it from over the alternator, around the P/S pump. under the crank pulley, around the water pump, under the smog pump and back to the alternator....took all the tension off the tensioner pulley and measured 84" I THINK I might just get enough tension on the belt to hold me for a little while till I can fix things correctly......any opinions?

make sure all the accessories are driven in the same direction as they where before you route it around.

you need a special pulley either from the dealer or from a junkyard for a car that didn't have AC. I removed the AC from a friends TPI, and used to be a dealer tech, so i got a deal on the pulley and bracket that goes in place. It was like $40 wit my discount, don't remeber what it would've been without, but prolly at least $60. I think that we still used the same belt, and the routing was still the same. Not sure though, abd don't know the part number.
