I know its not thirdgen, but what year (if any) did Chevrolet make a Corvette with a V-6 option?

Probably...but I got a bet that they never did.
Exception: The very first Corvettes (1953-1954) came with V6's, but V8's have been in em ever since.

Transmission: 700R4/4L60 same trans different name
yup
only 300 1953 vettes with inline 6's
a few (2 or 3) thousand 1954's
and about 6 or 7 1955's
the rest of the 700 1955's had the 265 SBC and carried a gold "V" in the corvette script on the cars side
