oil pressure gauge is dipping to 0lbs

My GTA's gauge cluster has been beeping at me the last couple days, and I finally realized why tonight. While I'm driving, usually when I'm just beginning to accelerate in 1st gear, the oil pressure drops to zero. It seems to be somewhat random, but most often when I'm just above idle in 1st like described above. I backed into my parking spot tonight and the gauge was stuck on zero. I shut off, restarted and it was back up to 30. I've got my fingers crossed that this flakey behavior is just the gauge sender, but wanted to see what others thought. Up until a couple days ago, my gauge has always shown a constant 30lbs at idle, and by 2500, I'm up over 60lbs. It seems to behave the same now except for when it's falling to zero. To me it screams "flakey sender", but i wanted to see if anybody had behavior like this turn out to be more serious. Thanks.
