Off-topic; 2000 Eldorado OBD-II connector & hard starting
I know this is off-topic, but you guys (and gals) might have an idea.
My 2000 Cadillac Eldorado just gave me the "check engine" light and it won't go off. I have noticed that the car is starting a little hard now, too... it takes about twice as long to crank over before it starts.
I've read that with the newer OBD-II connectors I can't flash codes like I can on my IROC. Does anyone know where I can find schematics to make my own OBD-II serial connector for my laptop so I can use a computer scan tool? Or, better yet, does anyone have any suggestions for the check engine light and hard starting? I think it might be a clogged fuel filter but I'm not completely sure.

There are so many possible DTCs on an OBD-II system that I wouldn't even waste a guess. While there are about 50 possible codes for our ThirdGens, there are literally hundreds of possibilities on an OBD-II system.
I have seen schematics for home-made interfaces on some sites, but I just got lazy and purchased a software package with the interface cable from AutoTap. IIRC, it was about $250 and covers every GM car, most domestics, and some imports, provided they have the same connector.
