Stalls, Sputters, and Smokes

Its an 89 Camaro IROC, 350 TPI Auto. Hard Starting, Usually about 3 turns of the key. But when it is warm it will start on first try. Also if I let it idle for about 5 minutes it will smoke, pretty bad. When I come to a stop, after driving for 15 minutes or more, the engine stalls. I can normally keep it running by putting the trans in Neutral, but sometimes that doesn't even work.

Any idea on how to diagnose would be greatly appreciated.

Oh driving seems to be fine. Open road or once the car is rolling I don't seem to have any preoblems.

Do you get any codes from the computer (check engine light on) I'd think maybe your tps is off or something, but its hard to say. Let us know if you have any codes from the computer that would help narrow it down.

Nope. No Codes. My oil pressure seems to run pretty high, any RPM over 2000-2500 and up the needle sits at 60psi, and I think that is cause the gauge doesn't read any higher. But I have measure the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and the dash gauge is right on. , but pressure at idle seems to be pretty normal. Some times the volt meter reads low when the engine is warm, but first thing in the morning when it is kinda cool it will read higher. I put a new alternator in about a month ago cause the voltage regulator was shot and the battery tested just fine. So I think the volts is just from old wires and such, you think?

Well, if anyone else has any other ideas shoot em this way.

You know my gauges are kinda screwy. I changed the temp w/an auto meter(mechanical) and I was on the verge of getting both alt. and oil when my car started acting up. Sometimes I wonder if the alarm the previous owner had installed my be causing my ECM and electrical problems?
