heater core

So my heater lines were leaking a couple weeks ago, replaced them, no problems.

Now i have bloody coolant leaking into my passenger side floor. Took the dash apart and sure enough the heater core is leaking.

I suppose i need a new one.... any tips on the replacement, how much of the dash i should disasemble, price estimate on the new core?

thanks guys,

Take all the top panels off, including pad, take off all the lower panels, and the center radio housing. Then unbolt the dash and pull it back on the passenger side Should have what I wrote done in about 3 hours

I got a lifetime warranty one from autozone for $18, but I've heard others here paying $40.

Trans-Am, i believe that on the older 3rd gens 86 and earlier, you could get at the heater core without disasembling the dash. You should be able to get at all the bolts from the bottom. Hopefully, someone else will chime in on this one.

Maybe 85 is different, but I have an 86 TA, and I can assure you one needs to pull the entire dash back.
