oil leak. please help!!

hey guys i'm new here. i just changed my oil and now oil is dripping from right next to the oil filter after i start the car. any ideas? it's not coming from the drain pan or the filter itself, and i'm pretty sure it's not the engine gasket because i don't see any leak near the top. i did not use synthetic, just that new mobil 0 clean oil or whatever and i threw in some STP oil treatment too cuz the oil hasn't been changed in a while. could that be the reason it's leaking?

look at the oil sender above the oil filter, valve cover gaskets and the oil sender next to the distributor

I dont want to flame you but did u make sure that when u took the old filter off that none of the gasket was still on the oil pump?
also did u put a small amount of oil on the new filter?
and also did u make sure that u tighten the new oil filter snug on the pump?

or that you didn't overtighten it. don't turn it more then one full time around the filter seats to the housing..

that and don't use Fram filters

Why do you guys say not to use fram? That's all my dad and I use on our cars and oil changes still come out with clean oil... what's wrong with them? Do they not flow enough or not filter enough or something?

There was a review on oil filters a while ago, and Fram did poorly, very poorly.

fram BLOWS. That stupid grip thing is the only thing they got going for them. I just stick w/ good ol' ac delco.

I've cut the popular filters apart and fram does have the smallest surface area inside. I use regular ac delco filters. It really doesn't matter all that much what filter you use as long as you change it and the oil regularly.

Do you guys get your AC Delco oil filters at NAPA or somewhere like that,or do you have to go to the dealer.Years ago I used to get them at K-Mart and they were very inexpensive.I have been using Fram for a while now,I did not realize they were crap.

the ac pf35's and the pf1218's are like 3.99 at most places. I got my pf35 for like 3 and change at the local pep boys.

okay guys i found out where the leak is coming from. it's that hose which plugs into right above where you screw in the oil filter. what is that called? anyway that hose is where it's leaking, the hose is cracked open and i can see that there is two wires in there and an orange connector thing on the end. so now my question is do i just replace the connector part or the whole hose. i can't find where that hose begins there's just not enough room back there even using a flashlight. please help, i want to get this car running

okay guys i did a search (guess i should have done that first) and i'm pretty sure that the leak is coming from the oil pressure sender where it it plugs in to the housing above the oil filter. is there anything i can do to stop it from leaking oil??

did u try tightening it..

u might wanna try adding some teflon to the threads. but u might end up needed a new sensor, I had one go bad once and it leaked from the end of it, not where it screws in..

damn just like i said a long time ago, buy a new one for 10 dollars or so and replce it, the sender, there's nothing wrong with the wire, as far as an oil leak goes.

I'm pretty sure they're both the same exact part, just one works with an idiot light in the dash while the other will work with a gauge in the dash. Just make sure you get the corresponding unit for whichever oil pressure indication you have in your dash.

What are you talking about ? What "oil pump" ? The filter doesn't screw on to the oil pump !

sender/senser same name same part. the one above the oil filter is for the fuel pump the one buy the distributor is for the gauge. one is a double hex and the other has a square for a wrench. the one above the oil filter is sort of bell shaped, with the square on it.
