Recently my Z28 has started to make a funny sound. It sounds like the fan is slapping the fan shroud until the car shifts into second and then it goes away. I have already trimmed thye fan shroud and it did not help any and the shroud is also bolted down tightly. What is wrong with it? The sound only occurs when i start from a dead stop and the harder I press the gas the more noticeable it is. HELP!!!

The fan shroud may be attached firmly, but I'll guess that the engine isn't. Better check the engine mounts for breakage.

Thanks for the advice, but when I was having a problem of rough vibrations from the engine the first thing I checked was the engine mount s and they are solid and still in tact, they are only a few months old. At idle or when i rev it up in park the engine torques but stays firm it doesn't get sloppy , it vibrates due to the power but thats it and it is a good vibration. It is bugging the crap out of me too. It isnt a great thing to have happen to your car when a couple of good looking girls pull up next to me and they start checking my car out ( along with me). It kinda makes my car look like crap when i step on the gas and it sounds like my car is falling apart.

Thanks for all your quick replies and suggestions. I was able to fix it. As I said before the fan shroud was tight but the problem was that it flexed quite a bit so when the fan began to spin as the engine sped up the fan was actually pulling the shroud towards it and therefore I heard the fan trying to devour my shroud. I was abple to slot the bolt holes and pull the shroud away from the fan and now my Z is sounding good again
