Cowl Induction Hood
Cowl Induction Hood
Hey guys,
With my new intake/carb I am having some hood clearance issues, does anyone know where I can get a relativly low priced cowl induction hood? It does not need to be painted, I know a guy that can do it for under 100$
Thanks,
Ben

what do you guys think of this?
Summitracing.com -> Chevrolet: 1982-92 Camaro, 4 in. height cowl induction, fiberglass, black primer finish, bolt-on, Outlaw Z cowl induction hood

No, that price is just for the cowl itself. You know, the ones you rivet on to your hood after you chop the hell out of it to make it work.

Nice Fiberglass hoods are going to run around 500.00. I have no plans of finishing my hood, I am on a budget and I thought the 500 could be much better spent on my tranny and stall. After my 400csb swap this car wont see a whole lot of street action, and the hood will be one of the first things to go, Way too heavy.
I agree, if you are looking for a show quality hood, dont do what I did....if ya just got your swap/mods done , and you are more interested in how your car runs than how it looks, and ya want to get out and have some fun...do what I did....(even if it means chopping the **** out of your perfect hood).

Glasstek has the BEST quality cowl hoods around. I paid 380 (plus ~ 75 shipping) for mine. It fit perfect! It's the same style that Nick Scavo runs on his NMCA SS car. I have some pics on my site at www.koolmeister.com

Miles , thats one Badass car, In your Mods, you listed stock suspension, So with the roll cage, Im guessing SFC's arent necessary? What kind of shocks/struts are you running? are these stock also? Any problems?
Friend of mine in Oregon has a Cuda darn near Identical to the one on your site, My compliments..

Thanks.
Even with the roll bar (8 pt) I am going to install some custom sfc's this summer. The car use to have an 8pt cage, but I cut it down to a bar as it will never go faster than 10.0's. The front struts are stock (aka worn out) 2.8 liter factory issue. The rear shocks are sears brand stock replacements.
The orange cuda is my friends street car (540hp 440 pump gas) and runs mid 11's (usually gets kicked out for no cage). The yellow one is his NMCA SS car and runs 8's. Were looking to get 7.80's (at 175+) out of this year in Orlando.

ok, in my experience, i have to go with Harwood, i got my fiberglass cowl induction hood in 96 and its great quality, it cost me $400 but it was well worth it. Harwood is a well respected brand, only problem i ran into was i had to replace my hardware/hydrolics when i switched hoods.
