Is my ECM dead
I'm driving down my street and my engine stops, so I coasted to the side of the road, no check engine lights come on, no security or air bag comes on, the car cranks, but nothing happens. First, checked all fusses.....good. Second, I check for trouble codes and there are none......not even a a code 12, the check engine light does not even come on, the guages work, I'm thinking it's the fuel pump? when I turn the key half-way, there is no whine that the fuel pump makes. there is power to the lights, guages, and radio. Even if the fuel pump goes out whould there be any trouble codes?
91,
You won't necessarily set a code if the pump or relay fails. If you are trying to listen for the pump, remember that you must wait at least 20 seconds after shutting off the ignition before the ECM will energize the pump relay again.

According to my dealers manual if you dont have a code 12 it is one of a few things a short to ground in ckt 419 (where ever that is) an open in ckt .451 (termanal B in your diagonstics port) or open in termanal A in the same port. If all that checks out you have a faulty ECM or PROM chip Hope this helps from what you described my guess without seeing it would be that you just have a bad ECM but always start with the simplest (and cheapest) things first like the open wires....... I'm looking at the wiring diagram and I think 419 is the wire to "SES" service engine soon light, well I replaced the ECM and that wasn't it. Well, I guess I needed a new one sonner or later. I'm not getting any power to the fuel pump. I read where to test the fuel pump, connect 12V to port "G" on the ALCL, sorry but how do I do that? I thinking of spending $500 for the shop to fix this glich.
