What's this wire near the knock sensor?
Here's a pic of the wire that's in the same section of the harness loom as the knock sensor wire. Somebody suggested before that it may go on the starter, but I don't think that's the case. This isn't a stock ring terminal. It's one that somebody added. The wire is all black. I'm guessing it's a ground. I checked the GTA, but that's got the newer integrated harness, so I got nowhere.

Anybody with an 86 or 87 know what this is? My 85 harness didn't have it, and my 88 harness is integrated and I couldn't find anything similar in that area.

Here's his picture for people that are too lazy to copy and paste.
I don't know what that wire is either. Looks like a ground.

Well, I did a continuity check between the + battery terminal and this wire, and it had continuity. Looks like it's a +12 wire. It must go on the starters on the 87s, but I have no idea why. I taped it off and wire tied it out of the way.
i believe its the wire that hooks to the starter, the starter should have two terminals one were all the hot wires go like the ones with the fusible links and another quite small wire that looks very similar from the pic i saw that goes on a small post on it. Is your car running? If it’s running without it i might say it’s not the wire to your starter though.

I had my 87's harness gutted last winter to remove 165 ecm relay wiring and various other wiring to convert it to a 730 harness completely and I noticed that wire, it connected to the starter, I can't remember where it goes, maybe its for a fan relay? Second fan maybe? I'm not real sure though, I'm at work and don't have the wiring diagraphms handy..
