Top end rebuild
Top end rebuild
Ok it's about time for me to do something about the old 305's smoking problem. In the next 2 or 3 weeks i'm rebuilding the top end. New cam, lifters' springs, valve seals i geuss valves if it needs it, push rods, and timing chain. I geuss thats it. I plan on doing the valve seals and springs and stuff my self. Exactly how much trouble is it to remove the springs and install new seals. I know i need a valve spring compressor but what else do i need. And i need a set of good seals. Should i go with stock seals? I've heard people talk about teflon seals or something.
Never done any type of work to heads before so any help will be appreciated.

i like the fel pro positive seal and the o ring seal both. i use a piece of 3/4" pipe with a cap screwed on it to take heads apart, just set it over the retainer and smack it with a BFH. you don't need new push rods unless you're going longer than stock or have damaged ones. replace the factory rotators with aftermarket retainers.
