Corporate engine parts ?
Corporate engine parts ?
I just bought my first Pontiac (I'm a 43 year old guy).I picked up a clean and straight '83 T/A for $800. not running. When I Fired itup I see the Factory AL intake leaks coolant . I cannot find anyone listing an Intake for a " 83 Pontiac 5.0 L. Do I buy one for a Camaro? are the power plants identical? Lots of emissions crap under there does everything hook up the same if I want to do an engine swap? Thanks for helping me out i haven't played with any F-body stufff since 1976, when I sold the '67 camaro I had in high School.
New T/A,
Welcome Aboard!
Both of the previous responses covered it pretty well. Your 305 "Pontiac" engine should look strikingly similar to the small block Chevy in your '67.
Just a few questions about your T/A. Does it have the Cross-Fire Injection system? If so, any replacement intake may be a bit more difficult to locate, but they're out there. If you have a carbed intake, just pick your favorite from the hundreds available. Just make sure you get one with an EGR provision to prevent problems later.
Stick around, and you'll find lots of useful information here. Good luck on the leak.
BTW - I had a '67 Firebird for about 15 years...
