How do you assemble/disassemble heads?

Pretty much what the topic says, but how do you assemble/disassemble cylinder heads, I really new to this & need the steps & tools required to take a pair of heads apart & put them back together.

Thanks,

The only special tool you need is a valve spring compresser. Not expensive. I have used 2 boxed end wrenches to do this but not recommended. Have someone experienced with you, not a good place for mistakes. Simply compress the valve spring and remove the keepers. Slowly release the spring pressure and it all comes apart. Installation is the same way in reverse. Why are you taking them apart?

lot faster to use an old deep socket to take them apart, or like me, i use a 3/4" nipple with a cap, and a BFH and the keepers come right off. takes a minute or less to have them apart. you need the compressor to get them back together, and if you want to measure or blueprint anything you'd need a snap gauge and mike or caliper.

I'm getting some used L98s from a guy & having them cleaned, & magnafluxed then sending them to a member on thirdgen,
rhuarc30, to port & polish them. Sounds pretty easy, I'll get my buddy to get a spring compressor from O'Reilly & we'll do them.

Thanks,
