need help with cam install

I have been posting some questions about cams and have recieved some excellent response,Thanks everybody! My project has been put on hold due to having to send my headers back to Jegs for replacement, found a pin hole where the collecter is welded on,I've wanted to send them back to get coated ones since I got them anyway so it worked out fine!About the cam,I have decided on Crane Cams Powermax 104224 because the rest of the engine is going to remain stock, except for L.T.headers,AFPR,and ported plenum.I do all of my own work on my car but have never done a cam,I want to change it while the intake is off but I keep talking myself out of it due to not knowing how.I did a search but after going through 3 pages and not really seeing any solid step by step instructions(and all of the people flaming each others knowledge)I still dont know.Anyone who has done an in the car cam install please help,I know how to get to the cam,it's once I am there how to go about getting the old one out and installing the new one.If you would rather email me than post it up here that's fine. Please help,Thanks ALOT!:hail:

pretty simple after you're down to the cam. remove the lifters, fuel pump drive rod, and remove the cam. it'll be lot easier if you leave the gear on it or use a install handle.

Label and seperate everything so that it goes back exactly where it was. Lifters, pushrods, and rocker arms should all go back in the same location.

I did'nt know the pushrods and rocker arms had to be removed,I thought you just loosened the rocker arms or something.Where is the fuel pump drive rod located?,will I see it when I get in there?I havent removed the intake yet,I am still driving the car untill I get all of my parts.Don't you have to turn it as it is coming out or something?Remember,I dont have any idea how to do this

The rockers you can loosen and turn aside to allow the pushrod to come out. You need to remove the pushrods and lifters, and as posted above you'll want to arrange/label them so you can put them back into the same locations they came from.

If this is your first time this deep into the engine, you really want to hit the bookstore and grab a Chiltons or something. Helms manuals are the way to go but cost upwards of $50 new (www.helminc.com). If you plan to do more work on your car, I'd invest in the Helms and get it over with.
