what kind of gains with a head upgrade?
what kind of gains with a head upgrade?
hey.......as you can see in the sig i have some old gm 186 double hump 2.02 heads. all i have really done to them is gasket match it with the inake to the gasket and alot of pocket porting under the valves (lots of excess casting material under there) and polish the exhaust ports. the thing really screams as is and i love the power it has......but i have the chance to pick up a set of dart iron eagles for about the price of one head from say jegs or summit. they are the 215cc runners with 64cc chambers and 2.05/1.60 valves. what kind of gains can i expect from the upgrade? thanks.

i got no difference when i used the air flow file for the darts and the "low performance, ported, large valves". but i know that has to be wrong.......also when i put in every single asect of my motor with the iron eagles i got this 479hp @ 6500 and 443ft/lb @ 5000 rpm..............with "low performance/ported, large valve" (figure that is what you'd use for production heads) i got 474hp @ 6000 and 442ft/lb @ 5000
something just tells me i should have a bigger gain going from a set of 1969 production heads to the darts.
