Oil Pan gasket
What's involved in changing the oil pan gasket on these cars? Mines leaking pretty bad in the front after replacing the timing chain cover. It's looks to be a huge project.......

I disagree. I took my oil pan out and replaced it in under 2 hours. There is a very good tech article on this site about changing the gasket. Basically the concept is removing the motor mount bolts and using 6 inch pieces of 2x4 to act as a spacer between the mounts and the shells to give you the clearance you need.
Read the article.....trust me it's worth it!!

Thanks! I didn't check the tech section first. oops. I'll be digging into this tonight. I swapped the cam and really buggered something up when I put the timing chain cover back on. BTW it's an 88 with the one piece gasket.

I found that the most difficult part was getting the exhaust bolts loose from the manifold. I wound up braking one of them, but got lucky in the fact that i could get a drill in there to take out the old bolt, and get the new helicoil insert in. Other then that it was really easy to just take out the motor mount bolts and just jack it up, and slip in the 2x4's. Just make sure you hit those manifold bolts with lots of WD-40.
