What's the intake system? I'm a huge fan of the Vortec castings but their unique bolt pattern can cause some headaches.

Vortecs are good heads. To the best of my knowledge, the are cast iron LT-1 heads. They also have plenty of room for improvement. They have a raised intake runner design, so your tbi manifold might not match as well as you'd like. You can get a Vortec specific manifold and a tbi adapter if you want. To do the whole thing would be less than $800 for the manifold, heads, valves, springs, retainers, locks, and seals. There are lots of places that sell the whole smash as a kit. The adapter is like $15 at auto zone, pep boys, whatever local ***** supplier is in your neighborhood.

Yes they are the same as the LT1 head except for a few improvements and they're regular cooling. Installing a 4bbl intake manifold and using a carb adaptor for the TBI is a great way to get an extra 15-20hp from an intake swap.
