Rebuilding Heads
Rebuilding Heads
I'm rebuilding my L-98 heads. However should I use the stock valve spring seats? What is the replacement? I can't find a part # at my local "Checker" Auto parts store. I've got new springs and retainers and locks but no new seats...
Also I have bought new valve seals. However the intake and exhaust are different types.
EXhaust is an umbrella type
Intake is also an umbrella type with a wire clamp so it stays on the valve guide.
Can I just use the same type for both? Even though the exhaust valve seals are for this head they are loose and I fear that they will just sit there and travel up and down the valve. I don't think that they will stay on the top of the guide.
Thanks for any info!!

you can't replace the spring seat unless you get another head, it's part of the head. are you sure you're using the correct term for the part you want? is it a spring cup for aluminum heads?
sounds like you have positive seals and not umbrella, i'd use them where they go along with a set of o ring seals.
