the cross feed on my lathe (old atlas) is stuck on. all it is is a little rod you push to engage and pull to disable. never took a carrage apart before so is there anything to watch out for? to keep it thirdgen related i was making a part for my camaro

 

ok i took the carrage off the ways, everything looks good moves freely when nothing is engaged. the gears all look ok, no missing teeth. put it back together and it's still stuck. not machinest here, how about machine repairman?
