where did the key break? did it break in half inside the ignition?
or did it break in half before you put it in the ignition?
if so.......did it break in half, like between head of the key and the shaft with the grooves? if the shaft with the grooves on it is still intact, take this section to a place that cuts keys and have them try to cut you a new key (make sure you know the letter of the blank..ie..A,C,etc). i work at a hardware store and i cut keys and a guy came in with just the shank of his key and i was able to make a copy for him from the shank and it worked. it saved him alot of time and money.
anyway..thats just a thought

If worst comes to worst you can always replace the lock cylinder. It's pretty easy...I had to do it when my VATS went out. Get a steering wheel puller and lock plate depressor and you're set.
it split between the VATS chip and the end, so everything that knocks down the pins is gone. yeah i just picked up a lock cylinder, so looks like thats going to be the project of the night. how do i bypass the VATS?
