Popping sound coming from front end... Any ideas?
Hi guys... been having a wierd problem. a few months back, driving home from school, my car started to make kinda like a "popping" sound whenever I would hit the brakes. The sound would come from my front end, and it sounds more like it's coming from my right front wheel. I'd step on the brakes and hear a POP. Loud enough for me to hear from inside while driving and I have my windows down. Car brakes and steers perfectly, so I'm stumped. Could it be the tie rods? any ideas guys? Thanks

Sounds like it could be suspension related, as the sound seems to occur when the car leans forward under braking. From experience of a similar problem, I replaced the lower swivel joints and it went away. I say jointS because suspension noises tend to travel through metal parts, and appear to be coming from somewhere other than the defective part.
As a side note, I also had a "creaking" sound which was cured by tightening the bolts securing the front wishbones to the car. Worth a shot I guess.
Other than that, try spraying some WD-40 on your bushes, one by one, and driving round the block. If it's one of those, the WD will allieviate the problem (not fix it) to allow you to buy the right one.
Hope that helps...
