Ok, I have an '87 Z28 305 TPI, it's always ran hot. Today I finally remembered to leave it running when I got home, and I got out and looked in the engine bay and neither of the fans were spinning. I've been running the heater all day cause I don't like seeing the temps that high. My dad always said "... the car just runs that way..." which I thought was The temps today have been between the 220 mark and the 3/4ths mark near the 260 and red area. When are the fans supposed to come on? I think someone said that one fan is on all the time, and the other comes on when it reaches a certain temperature, is this right? What can be causing them not to work, is there a switch or relay or something somewhere? Thanks.

 

if you have 2 one should run all the time, the other is switched by the temp senser i nthe right head.
