where could i find my casting numbers on the engine block? someone told me they are in the back of the block but would they be on the driver side or passenger side? i own a 83camaro but i'm not sure it's the stock motor but it is a GM motor, can anyone help me out? give me some places to look

 

PS if it is the stock block it's a LG4 so if anyone knows where they numbers are on a LG4 i could start there

 

I'm not for sure about your 83, but on my 91 the numbers were stamped into the deck surface right in front of the head, on the front passenger side.

 

Drivers side ..at the back..hard to see with the motor in the car..also some as above included..
