Mind boggling hope someone can help
Ok first of all i bought a 87 Iroc for $1200 which in my own way has already paid for itself. Only one problem. I live in Ohio and it's been pretty warm recently. When i'm in traffic or following someone and can't get air underneath the car i hear a moaning from the gas tank. and after about 5 minutes it chokes out and stalls.
I wait for about 10 - 15 minutes and it starts up no problem, like it never happened. and it's usually after i fill up the car. Someone have any insight? please i need help with this. It's the only car that i have running right now. I just pulled the motor out of my 88 Iroc. Thanks alot in advance for your wisdom.

Does the noise occur only with the engine running or also when the car is just sitting?
There is a tank pressure control valve as part of the EVAP system, and a surge valve that prevents fuel leakage from the tank if the car is inverted. The fuel vapors could be expanding as the fuel warms up, causing pressure in the tank.
If the noise only occurs while running, the pump itself could be the source.

it's only when the car is running when i'm driving it. I had a fuel pump put in about a year ago. i wouldnt think it would be the pump but with my luck it is. i drove from here 3 1/2 hours to kentucky and it didnt do it. thats why its confusing cause i only drove it from hamilton to middletown (about 20 minutes) and it did it.
