Here is mine. It is not very custom but it uses the dual snorkel from the L69. Dealer had all of the parts except the air cleaner assembly and the drivers side plastic duct piece.

I couldn't get the driver side duct either, so what I did to enlarge the duct's outside diameter at the connection to the flexible hose was to wrap it with black electrical tape until it was a snug fit. Works great and looks stock, unlike your white taping job

Yeah my duct tape job was pretty lame but it was all I had at the time and somebody was asking me for pics. I wold like to try to find something that will make a better fit. Have not been successful yet.

Wrap electrical tape around the end of the plastic snorkle until the duct slips over it snugly.

For the second time ...

Black plastic is better than metal.

Looks good guys, but has anyone done a comparison at the
track (dual snorkel vs no cleaner) to see the effect on ET ?
I still have the L69 dual snorkel cleaner but never tried it at the track, always run with open carb. Now with the 350 swapped
in I am even less tempted to try it........

Both Car Craft and Hot Rod recently ran dyno tests of a well built engine with different sizes and types of air filters, including no filter at all.

They found no difference in hp or torque.

Thus a good dual snorkle ought to give you the ram air effect and knock at least a quarter second off the ET. That is what both Chevy High Performance and Hot Rod found in 1/4 miles runs on a 305 3rd gen Camaro. With a 350 it ought to be about 1/3 of a second--which equals around 30 hp extra

That's 30 hp for next to nothing money-wise. I don't know about you folks but to me you can't beat that with a stick

I went to the track with the very intent of testing this theory but when I swapped on my "track" carb (750 double pumper) the dual snorkel wouldn't clear the float bowls so I had to run the open element. !

Sitting,

I see what your saying now. I can't even tell that was done on your car. That's a pretty good job. I will try it. Thanks!!

Yup

Can't even tell it's not stock

In fact, the differences between the LG4 snorkle and a proper L69 snorkle are miniscule. The openings are just a tiny bit larger at both ends, but you'd never know it to see the LG4 snorkle properly modded with about 20 wraps of electrical tape

Post a pic when you are done so we can all behold your flawless workmanship

Yeah, the dual snorkle only works with the QJet and Edelbrock Performer series, and the latter needs a 3/4" spacer on top of the carb for the cleaner to clear the electric choke.

Try a spacer with your Holley, that might work come to think of it

Well the bummer is that even with a 3/4inch ring spacer on the carb the dual snorkel won't clear cuz now the damn hood won't shut with the RPM intake! oh well, guess I'll have to put that crappy edelbrock back on. I swear that double pumper is worth 3 tenths in the 1/4.

On trhe Dyno my car made 20 more horsepower with no aircleaner than with a 14X3 K&N filter and housing. The numbers are even until it hits 6400 rpm.

What kind of engine are you running now? You used to have a 305 with an XE256 cam running in the 15s. Now it's turning 6400 rpm
