Horrible head castings
Horrible head castings
I pulled off my heads to do some minor porting. when i took a flashlight to the port to size up the work i noticed on two of the runners these huge (maybe a 1/2 inch wide to 1/2 inch deep) indentations. its obviously from the casting process, but man thats got to have a nasty impact on flowing.
you'd be amazed at the lack of quality control. I pulled a Buick 350 out of a buick I had, because it spun a bearing. When I started tearing it down, I removed the intake, and guess what? One of the intake runners was only open enough at the head surface to stick a pencil in.
Needless to say that cylinder was dead weight. You'd be surprised at what the general has allowed to be "OK" What castings are you porting? I wonder if that's normal?
