Low pitched Whistling sound
First off I have an 82 z28 CFI with a 3 speed auto.
In first gear it does not make the sound.
In 2nd/3rd, it makes this whistling sound when under acceleration. It does not make the sound when cruising, or when given no gas at all. But the slightest amount of gas will start the sound. It sounds like its coming from the driveshaft/rearend (most likely rear). And it does this all through 2nd/3rd, I am not so worried about something going run (maybe I should be) but it gets very annoying when cruising down streets and really annoying on the highway.
Anyone experienced this problem, or know what it is, it kinda seems like something needs to be lubed up or something.
Thanks in advance.

I got the same probblem....been doing it for a while now. Mine is howlng from the passenger side rear. I ruled out any kind of bearing or axel problem when I changed out my rear. I noticed the sound when Im going around turns too.
It may sound kinda silly but I'm starting to think its a suspension problem. I'm going to be redoing my shocks, LCAs, and put in SFCs in the future so until then I'm going to deal with it. I don't know if this will fix it but only time wil tell.
