Need help finding oil leak....

under my camaro. Was coming back from a car show about 40 miles away. Cruising down the interstate at about 74, with AC on, had the t-tops glass out. I noticed some severe white smoke coming out the back. Car was running fine, but it was kind of hot out. Water temp was about 185, kind of normal. I turned off the AC and slowed down a bit, after a few miles the smoke disappeared.

I kind of thought it was my read leaking, since I know about a leak that I have, maybe getting the coolant on a hot surface.

When I got home to check it out, popped the hood and the rad wasn't leaking, but smoke came up from the back of the engine. I let it cool a while, and looked underneath. There was lots of oil "splashed" on the converter, and exhauset pipe as well. Also looked like there was tranny fluid (red) dripping from the pan. But also oil dripping from near the plastic flywheel cover.

Could it be the rear main seal? Could motor oil get thru the tranny and come out the tailshaft? I just had new speedo gears put in, and the new seal there as well.

Got to get it up on a lift and start looking I guess.

TIA

senders, china wall and valve covers are most likely places for a leak

Could be the end rail gasket at the back.

Good ideas fellas, thanks. I am kind of leaning towards the valve cover gaskets. I had the intake all off this past winter, did all the base porting and gasket matching, etc..

I put all new gaskets and sealed up everything the best I could, using all the tips from these boards.

BUT....I did not pull the valve covers off. Just didn't have a need to at the time. I cleaned things up from the top, but lately I have noticed the drivers side cover has got some oil buildup around it. I hope it is that simple!
