Car still not making power 2500+ rpm..

I notice in most in 1st gear. I just got a new fuel filter and fuel pump put on the car so I don't think it is a fuel line problem, though the fuel pump did make it a little quicker.

I'm thinking maybe it's something with the carb? The valve seals are bad but I don't know if that'd affect performance would it?

Your catalytic converter might be getting plugged.

Ok, I'll replace the Ignition module and see what happens.

Every once and a while I'm getting stumbling and misfiring too, so it probably is an ignition problem.

Any recommendations for a brand of ignition module?

If it's the module, the car probably wouldn't start when the car was hot. Do you have that problem? If not, you might have the same problem I have. At idle, the car runs ok, put it in drive and take off, and it runs pretty rough and backfires through the intake, right? If the seals are bad, and the ignition module is not your problem, I'd check the cam. Pull a valve cover off and check all of the springs. It's a simple test, just make sure they are going up and down. Let me know how you make out.

It starts when hot, just not right away.

Not to start a fight, but if your car would start when hot with a bad module, how did you know it was bad?

Because I got a SES code (cant remember which one) that was module/ESC. Replaced the module and it never threw any more codes.

I wish mine threw a code so I knew what the problem was.

I purchased several of the generic brands of ignition modules sold by the chain parts stores and none lasted very long. I purchased an Accel and it hasn't failed me at all.

Let me check that....before I had some engine mods the generic modules were fine, but after the mods I made, the generic mods would just fry out on me in no time at all. But the Accel has worked perfectly, no problems.

The Accel module is just a Corvette module pretty much. If you get a MSD one, it's a step above.
