Well my LO3 has 188k miles. I get a little puff of smoke on startup, which we all know is probably valve seals. My question is s for the last 40k miles after I sit at idle for 5 min. or more, such as in a long drive through line or in traffic, the car blows a lot of smoke when I take off. After I get the RPM's up for just a few seconds the oil seems to burn off, usually 15-30 sec. of 2k rpms or more. What could be causing this and do you think the oil is hurting my original cat-conv? The car still passes emissions every year and it doesn't burn oil between changes. Most of the oil lost between changes is on my driveway!!!

 

Sounds like it is just valve guides and seals.
