Need Help Quick - Real High Idle

I just changed my intake to an Edelbrock Performer and now that everything is re-attached, the car starts, but the idle is extremely high...about 2k higher than where it should be. I'm new at working on my engine...what could be doing this and how can I fix it.

Thanks

2000 rpm's to high? Its idling around 2500-3000 rpms?!?!?

IF you mean that your idling aroudn 1000-1500 once warm, I'd guess CTS, but I dunno if its above 2000....

Make sure you have all the vacuum lines hooked up, it could be a vacuum leak.

Yes. I turn the car on and it jumps right up to 2500 and stays there. I dont know if maybe the choke is stuck, but I'm not sure how to check or fix it.

Check for a working choke, also check that the idle kicker is not on (locatd by the throtle cable, in front). Both of these combined can give u a high idle. The carb will not kick down once its up to temp. if the idle kicker is activated....

Thanks for the suggestions.

When I installed it, I put the new gasket on the intake and put the carb on, but realized that the bolts were too long. I then decided to put the old gasket on () so I would be able to tighten the bolts.

This is when it wouldnt drop below 2500.

The next morning I took off the carb and was comparing the 2 gaskets and both manifolds. The old manifold has individual chambers and the gasket was one big hole. The new intake had 2 separate, undivided chambers and the new gasket had individual holes for the primaries ans secondaries.

I put the new gasket with the individual holes for the primaries and secondaries on and put a few washers under the head of the bolt and everything was once again fine.
