DESPRITE for answers to inspection questions?!?!?!

A couple inspection Questions:

1)The very outside of my tires is slightly more worn then the main tread. Would the inspection place get suspicious if I put my stock rims (and tires) on just for inspection....would they pass if it even if they knew they were just on for inspection

2) I have the 4th gen rear, never bothered with the E-brake, so it is disconnected, being automatic could I get a shop to "overlook" that

3)My gague cluset went bad so Put a new (used) one in. Its got different milage on it, less then the previous one. Could I go emmisions exempt for atleast another year with it and just lead them to beleive I drove it under 5k a year (our law that figures if you need emissions or not)

I appreciate any feedback.

Anyone own/work at any shops in S.E. PA

They don't care about what tires or rims as long as the tread is within specs. The e-brake, well it depends on the guy who does the mechanical inspection. Some guys will pick it up, some won't, and some will simply not care. The emission is a different animal. I too am exempt from PA testing. The problem is that if it currently has an exemption sticker it will reflect the mileage from last inspection period. If it is LESS than what the sticker indicates most likely they will refuse to issue an exemption. Since your car is over ten years old the state does not care about odometer readings as far as resale, but emission exemption is still logged into the state computer system and may throw up a red flag even if the mechanic screws up. Sorry for the bad news, but you probably can't get around this one. Fact is they want the older cars off the road here in good ole" PA. Be patient, 15 years old and you can get a classic tag and get around it all.

Mine is an 86, it is 15 years old, but I do drive it over 5k and at night so I cant do that, this past year it may have been under 5k, cause it was in the shop 6 months out of the year getting everything done though.

Can't do math this early in the morning. I'll check with my buddy. I use his garage for the lift etc and he is a inspection station. I don't know if you can submit an affidavit for the time it was off the road. The state will let you do it for insurance lapse, but I will see if they do it for emissions.

Is that just for the front? The design of our front suspension (two lower control arms, struts, no upper control arms) is such that the outermost edge of the front tires wears down faster. 'Fact, it's a good haggling point if you're looking to buy a used 3rd gen.

And you could always say you bought two used rear wheels/tires because they looked cool, and you're trying to find two more for the front.
