Strange coil issues

OK i went down to the local oriely's (sp) and picked up basically the entire ignition system short of a new distributor, you know, coil, cap, rotor, wires, plugs. Anyway i went to put on the coil in my 91 RS 5.0 LO3 and when i pulled it out of the box it looked the same but when i went to pull the old one i realized that the brackets that were in the box with the new coil wouldn't work. Why? Because the coil in my car was monted into the intake manifold with 1/2 inch bolts. It all looks very factory so i am not thinking its a hack job, but what is going on? All of the parts stores try to give me the same coil setup. I have even asked them to look at 5.0 chevy trucks and they get the same thing. Is this an older engine that could have been swapped in? If so were exactly is the vin on the engine so i can match it up. Thanks.

It's simple really. You take the old coil off with the bracket attached. Then you drill out the rivets that hold the coild to the bracket. Then you put the new coil on the bracket and use the supplied bolts (usually the give u new bolts) to secure the new coil on the bracket!
