car wont start- has anyone heard of this problem???

hi, i was wondering if anyone knows what might be causing this problem. i grounded out my power wire to the starter while trying to start it one day, the power wire wore down to metal and my car wouldnt start after that. all it does is my temp gauge spikes when i turn it over and the e brake light comes on. i replaced the fried wire, and bought a new chipped key and ignition (damned vats system) that cost me a grip, and the problem still happens. every place ive called or person ive asked hasnt heard of the problem except for the person that told me about the ignition because they had a problem with similar symptoms and the ignition change worked. my car has been down for over a month, and um stummped. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!

Check your fuseable links by the starter, check the battery and the starter. There's a good start for you, if you've already checked or replaced all or any of the parts and still have the same problem give me some more info.

When you get under the car and look at the starter, there will be about 3 or 4 wires, they have a black casing around one part of the wire. It's always a good idea to hold both ends and tug just a little to see if the wire is burnt up but the insulation isn't yet.
