LT1 guys!!!

hey guys,
well i was considering buying a 96 or so Z28 and i was wondering how reliable are these cars and do they require alot of maintenance. And when you do work on these engines, are they pretty easy to work on and replace things. Thanx alot guys!!!

Just by looking at the engine bay I'd say they're a bit more difficult to work on than a third gen since half of the engine appears to be recessed below the windshield I'd also guess they'd be more reliable just because they are newer in general, depending on the mileage though.

Why don't you go to a 4th Gen/ LT1 site and ask them?

they are pretty reliable and make a decent amount of power in stock form. i have a 94' formula. if it was 94-95 then i would say start worrying. since it's a 96.. they have a vented optispark which is much better than the non-vented optispark(present on 95' and older). the non-vented version goes out around 100K or when in contact w/water. many people complain about the opticrap. all in all if you keep up with the maintenace they are very reliable. changing plugs and wires are a PITA. well good luck.

All i hear is that LT1 and LS1's are harder to work on due to there stupid engine placement. As far as maintence, **** i dont know, but i'm happy with my car, besides the fact i have low miles to.
