this guy at work will sell me a set of LG4 305 heads in excellent condition for $100

the first advantage i see of the LG4 heads is the 58 cc combustion chamber

second advantage is that these heads are in great condition

the valves are 1.84/1.5

what is the combustion chamber size on the 350 heads?
valve size?


i am building a nice mild 350 for my daily driver (and i'm on a major budget) so AFR's, Brodix, etc are totally out of the question

i plan on using a computer compatible cam and Speed Density TPI

what comp-compatible cam should i choose if i go with the LG4 heads?

do they make that cam in a retro-roller version........if so i would like that the best

And whatever happend to putting the t-5 behind the 305? e havn't talked in a while, it seems your plans have changed quite a bit...

I'd use the 416 heads probably over the 350 ones, unless they're L82 heads. What's the casting #?

just be warned that it has nearly 200,000 miles on it

ehhh, i need to keep the T5 because i blew one up pretty bad

th TH350 is going behind the 305 and the other T5 is going behind the 350

weird combos, but hey, i gotta be unique

if you want the 3.1, i'd suggest rebuilding it first.........then i can put it in for ya

it wont be out for about 3 monthes though

as for the heads, i'm 99.99% sure the L82's only came on vettes and not trucks.......so it looks like the LG4 heads are a good deal.......i'll seal that deal in a few weeks

 

How "major" of a budget are you looking at?

As a matter of fact.. if it's still there next spring, It might just be a 400 with a 4 speed out of a 79 TA.

 

Are you going to be keeping both of these cars on the road? What drivetrains are going in what car? I'll take the one with the 305/th350...

 

Hey, while on the subject do any of you guys happen to know the volume of the 416 head's intake runners.

 

The stock port volume of the 416 heads is 167cc's

 

well, lets not even consider a budget into the equation, lets just say, gave 2 choices of whats better, and i am going to be using whats best

 

yeah dude, if you want performance, an 8 is the only way to get it, too bad i had to realize that the hard way

a pontiac 400? that'd be interesting, but i'm sure you can probably find a good deal like i did........i scored the running 350 and TH350 for $300.............the guy i bought them from said they both run great.............i just hope he's right and the piston rings arent shot...........the valve seals, i dont care, cuz i'm gonna get the LG4 heads.........
