Ignition coil

Heres the deal. I checked to see if I was getting a spark at the plug. I wasnt. So I checked to see if the coil was giving a spark. It isnt. So then I was told to check the ignition module and pick up coil. THats all well and good. I can check those tomorrow during daylight But I dont think I am understanding something here. The ignition module doesnt supply power to the coil does it?.....Would the coil be giving a spark even if the module or pickup coil was bad?....

The "pick up" is what tells the module to "fire" the coil. The module doesn't supply the voltage to the coil, it completes the circuit and controls what the spark does (esc).
It's rare for a coil or "pick up" to go bad....more common for a module. I'm not saying they (coils & pick ups) don't go bad...it's just not as common.
You can take the module off and take to the parts store and they should be able to test it for you...or you can buy a sensor tester that will test o2 sensors, tps, hall effect switches, magnetic inductor switches, and most modules for a decent price (at least it was a decent price when i bought mine several years ago).
Good luck...
