anybody install the Accel 300+?
I just ordered the Accel 300+ ignition. I have a remote coil. The guy at Summit said I can remove the ignition module in the distributor because the Accel system bypassses it. But in the directions it has directions for leaving it in and taking it out.
Can i take it out? Any ideas?

I have the 300+ ignition. You do not bypass the module. You unplug one of the factory connectors from the module and plug the new connector from the box harness in.
Here's the install diagram.........."Right click, Save Target As"

My brother has that ignition on his car and he doesn't have a module in his distributor. Actually, he doesn't have a distributor, per se, he's got an LT1.
Is the accel just as good as an MSD 6A?

I'm sure each box has it's admirers. I prefer the Accel box because it's small, has a built in rev limiter, and was a very easy install.

So technically, you still need the module to be in good working order then, right? That kind of pisses me off, because I was going to order a new one, and the guy at Summit said it wasnt necessary, because the 300+ system bypasses it. So I guess now I better get a new one.

Here's what I'm guessing based on what I've been told by Accel and from talking to you guys:
The module can be taken out on carb cars, but must remain intact on FI cars. In either case though, the Accel ignition setup overides it. Thats why I'm assuming there's two different wiring diagrams in the directions; one with it removed and one with it in.
Sound about right?

Well, you've got 2 weatherpacks on the back of the module. The new Accel harnees for the box only replaces 1 of them. I'm pretty sure you're gonna need the module.
