Interesting problem my friend has.
Well its a 73 Satelite (I know its no thirdgen) that will not fill up with gas. He can stick a hanger as well as a hose all the way down into the gas tank and hear it scratch the bottom of the tank. But when you put gas in there it just stays in the pipe and doesnt sink down. If you knock on the tank he says you can tell its empty. I cant make anything of that problem what do you think?
A friend of mine had a problem similar to that with his cavalier (he could only put a couple dollars in gas in it before it would over flow) we couldnt figure out what was wrong so we replaced the tank and that solved the problem, after having it done we cut the old tank open to see what it was but everything looked fine

What about swapping out the filler neck? I know they are cheaper than a new tank. How much gas is going in the tank?? Could it be a vacume problem? No air getting out so no gas can go in? Just a thought.
