Change oil pan gasket

Is it possible to change the oil pan gasket with everything still in the car? I have an oil leak that needs to be addressed in the near future. I made my self a promise that if the motor comes out of the car it wasn't going back in and I really can't afford a new motor right now......

Thanks

Bill

yeah it can be done, is it fun? no, is it easy? no, but lot of things could be worse. use a one piece gasket will help out a lot.

Right...Not fun at all. You can only Jack up the motor so far untill you crack off the distributor cap. Soon as mine came off the motor came out and a new one went in.

For best clearance however you decide to do it....put the timing mark at the 6 o'clock position.
