engine smoke after cam swap?

is this normal? my engine did not smoke at all when i brought it into the shop on wednesday for the cam swap. when i checked it out today they said they were still tuning it and they didnt know why it was smoking. the timing is way off right now, and i was wondering if that would have caused it. its not black smoke, its more of a blue smoke like oil. also when they were breaking in the cam, it made everyones eyes water up and they had to pull it out of the shop to break it in. is this normal? if not, what could they have ****ed up in the process of swapping a cam? or could bad timing cause this?

could timing be off so bad it causes blueish smoke that burns the hell out of your eyes? if it still smokes after they set the timing the only thing i could think of would be they used synthetic oil or some really light weight ****.

Sounds to me like it's running extremely rich for whatever reason; that will make it smoke, usually kind of gray.

Get the timing right (not necessarily make the mark line up where the book says a stock one is supposed to), meanwhile look for things that would make it run real rich.
