power loss
power loss
Ive posted this in other forums thought i might try another. Here is the problem im having with my bird the car has approx. 135K miles on its V6 MPFI engine and the tranny was rebuilt about 2 years ago.
1) First off when its been sitting for a more than a day right now it will not start it just cranks, i have to shoot starting fluid into the throttle body to get it to start then i have to hold it @ about 2K RPM for a few sec (approx 20-30) sec otherwise if i let off the gas it will stall out. After its warm i can then turn it off and it will start back on its own.
2) When i drive it say trying to accellerate or go up a hill it lacks alot of power and sometimes will back fire or feel like it is going to stall.
3) I have changed the cap/rotor/wires/plugs and O2 sensor, I have also done a fuel pressure check like with the key in the ON position the psi was within factory specs and with the engine idling it was also withing factory specs. I have also tried running fuel injector cleaner also with no luck.
*alot of people have suggested a clogged or restricted exhaust system or cat. I dont notice the cat glowing but it does get really hot i dont know how hot i could say as if would be abnormal or not. The muffler is a flowmaster muffler that was installed about 3 years ago. and the cat has not been changed since i have owned it for the last 3 years.
Any suggestions will be great im trying to avoid taking it to the shop. Im going to start using this as my daily driver and start restoring the interior, while i finish up my 70 Camaro
